Role
Cadence Connect is forming a Finance Engineer community in Brisbane and across Australia to meet growing demand for practitioners who combine finance domain expertise with hands-on engineering. The Finance Engineer automates close, forecasting, reporting and compliance workflows using AI tools, agents, APIs and integrations.
Key Responsibilities
- Automate month-end close, forecasts, reporting and routine finance tasks using AI-driven tools and agents.
- Build end-to-end workflows that connect AI to live finance data via APIs and MCPs.
- Design and run agents that execute finance workflows autonomously, and test them on real finance data.
- Translate unstructured datasets into clear recommendations to support decision-making.
- Document architectures and processes so systems operate reliably without constant oversight.
- Design data governance frameworks that support audit readiness and long-term scalability.
- Connect and integrate finance systems through APIs and data pipelines.
Finance Fundamentals
- Financial close and month-end processes
- FP&A: budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis
- Financial controls, compliance and audit readiness
- Management reporting and board pack preparation
- AP/AR, reconciliations and transactional finance
- Financial modelling and scenario analysis
Engineering & Technical Responsibilities
- Use AI assistants and model-driven workflows (e.g., Claude, Cursor, Codex) to build functional finance tools without traditional developer handoffs.
- Integrate AI with live finance data via MCPs and APIs and build data pipelines and integrations.
- Test and evaluate AI tools on production data and iterate for performance and accuracy.
- Build robust documentation, architectures, and governance to ensure maintainability and auditability.
Systems Literacy
- ERP-agnostic but ERP-literate: understand chart of accounts, GL architecture, cost centres and module data flows within enterprise platforms.
Mindset & Who We’re Looking For
