Role
The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) builds and delivers production-grade, AI-powered systems directly with customers, owning solutions end-to-end from discovery through production. The FDE bridges product intent, engineering execution, and real-world deployment to ensure agentic AI systems deliver measurable customer and business impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Write, ship, and operate code in real customer environments and production systems.
- Own solutions end-to-end from discovery, design, implementation, to deployment and operations.
- Implement backend and integration engineering work (APIs, services, data integrations).
- Build LLM applications including tool calling, RAG (retrieval-augmented generation), orchestration, and evaluation/quality gates.
- Apply production deployment discipline (CI/CD, environment management, containers) and cloud deployment practices.
- Ensure security and privacy fundamentals (secrets management, access controls, PII handling) are applied in implementations.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and translate technical trade-offs to decision-makers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, architecture, or technical delivery with a strong record of shipping production systems.
- Demonstrated experience delivering customer-embedded solutions in enterprise environments (discovery-to-deployment).
- Hands-on experience in backend and integration engineering; strong debugging skills.
- Experience building LLM-based applications (tool calling, RAG, orchestration) and creating evaluation/quality gates.
- Production deployment experience including CI/CD, environment management, and containerized deployments.
- Cloud experience with one or more major providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with security and privacy fundamentals in implementations (secrets, access controls, PII handling).
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders.
