Role
Forward Deployed Engineers embed directly with customer engineering teams to deliver production-grade Cursor workflows that solve real engineering bottlenecks. You will lead discovery, design practical solutions, implement working systems, and own them through launch, iteration, and post-production support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead discovery with customer engineers to identify real bottlenecks and define measurable success metrics.
- Design and build Cursor-powered workflows (e.g., large-scale refactors, migrations, PR review loops, incident→fix pipelines, spec→implementation systems).
- Ship a fast first version in days and harden it into a reliable production system with rollout plans, monitoring, and iteration based on real usage.
- Own production quality: tracing, evaluations, metrics, debugging model behavior, latency/cost tradeoffs, and handling failure modes.
- Work directly with senior engineering and platform leaders, balancing deep engineering work with clear communication about tradeoffs and results.
- Turn customer solutions into reusable patterns and contribute improvements back into the core Cursor product.
Requirements
- Proven ability to thrive in ambiguous environments and convert fuzzy problems into clear scopes and shipped systems.
- Experience building and owning AI-native workflows in production and debugging real-world model failures.
- Comfortable leading discovery conversations and being accountable for customer outcomes.
- End-to-end ownership: comfortable implementing frontend, backend, infrastructure, and prompt iteration as needed.
- Experience with production reliability practices: metrics, alerts, safe rollouts, and incident response.
- Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript/JavaScript and ability to ramp quickly on new stacks.
