Role
As a Forward Deployed Engineer you will design, build, deploy, and operate production-grade voice AI agents end-to-end. You will embed with client environments, integrate the Blue Machines platform with enterprise systems, and take full technical ownership of agent performance in production.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, prompt, build, and deploy production voice agents, including guardrails, conversation design, and tool-calling logic.
- Build scalable backend integrations (REST APIs, WebSockets, webhooks, callbacks, CRM writes) connecting the platform with enterprise systems.
- Implement AI/LLM orchestration and integrations using frameworks such as LangChain and OpenAI APIs to deliver intelligent workflows.
- Monitor system observability (logs, traces, call flows), perform root-cause analysis, and debug issues across prompts, platform layers, and data pipelines.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize agent metrics (completion rate, hallucination rate, latency, cost) and run funnel experiments on conversation cadence.
- Partner with client engineering teams, lead technical workshops, manage expectations, and travel for on-site reviews and live-call debugging.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of software development experience, with at least 2+ years shipping live LLM/AI applications (agents, RAG, or chatbots); voice experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Python or Java for backend architecture and integration work.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (preferably GCP) and strong knowledge of APIs, WebSockets, and authentication protocols (OAuth2, JWT).
- Data fluency: ability to pull and analyze data independently using SQL, Python, or Sheets.
- Strong client-facing communication skills and willingness to travel for on-site workshops and deployment reviews.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of telephony stacks and real-time protocols (SIP, WebRTC) and telephony vendors (Twilio, Avaya, Ubona).
- Prior experience with Voice AI or conversational AI systems.
