Builds production LLM/agent workflows using LangChain and OpenAI APIs for voiceβso it's about building and shipping AI agents and integrations with rapid, real-world iteration.
About the Role
Forward Deployed Engineer to design, build, deploy, and operate production Voice AI agents for enterprise telephony systems, embedding with clients to deliver integrations and own agent performance end-to-end. The role focuses on backend integrations, LLM/agent orchestration, observability, and continuous optimization in live voice deployments.
Job Description
Role
Forward Deployed Engineer responsible for designing, building, deploying, optimizing, and supporting production-grade voice AI agents end-to-end. You will embed with client environments, take technical ownership of agent performance, and bridge client systems with the Blue Machines platform across APIs, cloud services, and AI frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end AI agent architecture including prompts, conversation design, guardrails, and tool-calling logic.
- Build scalable backend integrations (REST APIs, WebSockets, webhooks, callbacks, CRM writes) to connect enterprise systems with the platform.
- Implement AI/LLM orchestration using frameworks such as LangChain and OpenAI APIs to deliver intelligent workflows.
- Monitor system observability: read logs, traces, and call flows to perform root-cause analysis and triage issues (prompt design, platform layer, or data pipelines).
- Continuously evaluate and optimize agent metrics (completion rate, hallucination rate, latency, cost) and run funnel experiments on conversation cadence.
- Lead client-facing technical work: run workshops, manage expectations, and travel for live-call reviews and on-site deployments.
Requirements
- 3β5 years of software development experience, with at least ~2 years shipping live LLM/AI applications (agents, RAG, chatbots); voice experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Python or Java for backend architecture and integration work.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (preferably GCP) and deep knowledge of APIs, WebSockets, and auth protocols (OAuth2, JWT).
- Data fluency: ability to pull and analyze data using SQL, Python, or Sheets.
- Strong client-facing communication skills and presence; able to explain technical complexity in plain terms.
- Willingness to travel for on-site client workshops and deployment reviews.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of telephony stacks and real-time protocols (SIP, WebRTC) and experience with providers/tools such as Twilio, Avaya, Ubona.
- Prior experience specifically with Voice AI or conversational AI systems.
Notes
- This role emphasizes hands-on delivery and ownership of production AI agents rather than specification-only or handoff work.
