Front-End Web Developer (BHJOB1435_35452)

Role

Front-End Web Developer (UX/UI) — 1-year contract supporting enterprise web applications and websites for NCDOT and NCDMV. Deliver accessible, responsive, and user-centered web interfaces, maintain component libraries/design systems, and collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to ensure consistency and usability across public-facing and internal solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, update, and maintain web components, user interfaces, and application prototypes.
• Develop accessible, responsive, and standards-compliant front-end solutions using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Build and support enterprise web applications, websites, and content management system solutions.
• Implement modern front-end architecture and component-based development practices; develop reusable component libraries and design systems.
• Perform website accessibility testing and ensure compliance with accessibility standards and best practices (e.g., WCAG).
• Optimize web applications for performance, scalability, and user experience.
• Integrate front-end solutions with enterprise platforms such as SAP, ServiceNow, and SharePoint.
• Support AI-assisted development initiatives and workflow automation efforts.
• Conduct training sessions, demonstrations, and webinars for business users.
• Troubleshoot and resolve front-end development and usability issues; participate in continuous improvement related to UX and accessibility.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years experience with JavaScript and TypeScript development.
• Minimum 5 years experience developing semantic HTML and accessibility-focused web solutions.
• Minimum 5 years experience using modern CSS, including Flexbox, Grid, CSS variables, and theming techniques.
• Minimum 4 years experience with state management using signals, reactive stores, or similar technologies.
• Minimum 4 years experience integrating applications with enterprise systems such as SAP, ServiceNow, or SharePoint.
• Minimum 4 years experience performing website accessibility testing and remediation.
• Minimum 3 years experience developing applications using Vue.js.
• Minimum 3 years experience implementing web performance optimization techniques.
• Minimum 3 years experience applying accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.2 or higher.
• Minimum 3 years experience supporting user experience design initiatives.
• Minimum 1 year experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools and workflow automation solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Vite and modern front-end build tooling.
• Experience designing and maintaining enterprise design systems and component libraries.
• Experience working within government, transportation, or large enterprise environments.
• Familiarity with content management systems and enterprise web platforms.
• Knowledge of modern DevOps and front-end deployment practices.

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, Human-Computer Interaction, UX Design, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Certifications related to front-end development, accessibility, or UX/UI design are a plus; accessibility/WCAG training is beneficial.

Logistics

• 1-year contract position.
• Hybrid — local to Raleigh, NC (Triangle region) required; on-site attendance may be required for equipment pickup, meetings, training, and other activities.
• Candidates must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (application question).
• Corp-to-Corp (C2C) arrangements not being considered.
