The role partners with product, data science, and business teams to deliver secure, scalable agents with strong emphasis on compliance, reliability, and business impact.

Role

Wells Fargo Markets seeks a Vice President-level GenAI Agentic Engineer to join a new engineering team focused on architecting, building, and deploying agentic GenAI solutions for front-office Sales & Trading workflows. The position centers on embedding autonomous, multi-step agents into production environments while ensuring scalability, security, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and orchestrate agentic systems that autonomously execute complex, multi-step business workflows.
  • Build and integrate APIs and tools to enable secure agent access to internal and external resources.
  • Develop advanced prompts and system instructions to define agent behavior and reasoning.
  • Implement state and memory management for tracking agent progress and maintaining context.
  • Create evaluation and debugging frameworks to assess agent reasoning and ensure reliability.
  • Collaborate with product, data science, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Produce high-quality software, documentation, and model validation artifacts following Agile SDLC and compliance standards.
  • Contribute to large-scale project planning and deliverables while balancing short- and long-term objectives.

Requirements

Required

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and participating in complex software design and development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build consensus across stakeholders.

Desired / Preferred

  • 5+ years of expert-level Python and strong core software engineering principles.
  • Hands-on experience with major GenAI platforms (Google Vertex AI, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Amazon Bedrock) or open-source frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen).
  • Deep knowledge of LLM and RESTful API integration.
  • Experience designing complex, event-driven applications and agentic systems in production.
  • Experience with container-based deployment (Docker, OpenShift) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Azure).
  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks (React, Angular) and best practices in testing and observability.
  • Strong Java development experience with modern frameworks and engineering best practices.
  • Prior experience in banking, capital markets, or sales & trading application development.
  • Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field is a plus.
  • Experience with vibe coding and related agent/assistant tooling is listed as a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay range: $159,000.00 - $305,000.00 (base range as reflected in the posting).
