Role
Ankercloud is hiring a Head of Engineering to lead its cloud engineering and consulting practice. This senior leadership role focuses on designing and delivering cloud solutions for customers, driving technical delivery excellence, and scaling a services-driven consulting organization rather than building in-house products.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and drive cloud engineering and delivery strategy aligned with business objectives and customer needs.
- Establish and enforce best practices for infrastructure and application architecture, security, governance, automation, and cost optimization.
- Own technical standards, reference architectures, migration patterns, modernization approaches, and operational models.
- Ensure security, compliance, reliability, and scalability are embedded across customer solutions.
- Oversee end-to-end technical delivery across engagements from discovery and architecture design to implementation and handover.
- Lead technical consulting activities including architecture reviews, roadmap discussions, and executive-level engagements.
- Partner with Customer Success to ensure long-term value realization and repeat business; define and track delivery KPIs (customer satisfaction, quality, predictability, risk management).
- Collaborate with Sales and Business teams on pre-sales solutioning, technical proposals, and RFP responses; ensure technical commitments are realistic and executable.
- Build, scale, and mentor a high-performing cloud engineering and consulting organization; create career paths and capability frameworks; implement performance management systems.
- Communicate delivery risks, timelines, and trade-offs to stakeholders and contribute to overall company strategy and positioning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in cloud engineering, technology consulting, or enterprise delivery, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale cloud migration, modernization, or platform initiatives for enterprise customers.
- Strong expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP, including security, networking, and governance.
- Experience building and scaling consulting or delivery teams in a services-driven environment.
- Demonstrated experience in the end-to-end application development lifecycle.
- Production-level experience with the latest GenAI tools for code augmentation, vibe coding, and compliant/secure implementations of modern technologies.
- Excellent customer-facing, communication, and stakeholder management skills; ability to balance technical excellence, delivery quality, and commercial outcomes.
Preferred Skills and Competencies
- Experience in cloud or application development consulting firms, system integrators, or managed services organizations.
- Familiarity with enterprise security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of AI-enabled cloud services and automation applied in customer environments.
- Strong analytical and data-driven approach to delivery and decision-making.
- Customer-first mindset, ownership, accountability, strong problem-solving and decision-making in complex environments, and executive-level communication skills.
Technical Expertise
- Deep hands-on understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP), hybrid architectures, and enterprise-scale deployments.
- Practical understanding of AI and data services within modern cloud platforms.
- Strong knowledge of cloud security, identity, networking, monitoring, cost optimization, cloud-native patterns, automation, and operational best practices.
