Head of Product Design to lead end-to-end hardware and accompanying software design at UnlimitedIRL, owning concept → CAD → prototyping → manufacturing readiness for premium live-streaming products. This full-time, in-office role in Culver City requires cross-functional leadership to deliver functional, durable, and aesthetic products for creators and events.

Role
Head of Product Design responsible for leading product design direction across UnlimitedIRL’s hardware, accessories, and ecosystem, owning the process from early concepts through CAD, prototyping, and production readiness, and collaborating closely with engineering and operations.
Key Responsibilities

Product Design Leadership
- Own product design direction across hardware, accessories, and ecosystem
- Define product requirements with engineering and operations
- Drive early-stage concepts, iteration, and decision-making
- Maintain fit/finish, materials, aesthetic, and usability consistency

Industrial & Mechanical Design
- Design hardware products and accessories (mounts, cages, enclosures, backpacks, kits)
- Produce CAD for parts, assemblies, and integration into production builds
- Create drawings and specifications for manufacturing and vendor quoting
- Rapid prototyping (3D prints, off-the-shelf parts, vendor samples)
- Solve cable management, thermals, tolerances, fasteners, durability

Manufacturing & Supplier Execution
- Work directly with suppliers and fabricators (US and overseas)
- Support DFM/DFA improvements and cost optimization
- Manage revisions and ECO-style changes for production readiness
- Produce BOMs, assembly instructions, packaging, and labeling

Software / UI Design Support (Secondary)
- Partner with engineering on software UX for internal tools and user-facing workflows
- Design UI for product setup flows, dashboards, status screens, and control panels
- Create product visuals and diagrams in Figma when needed
Requirements
- 5–10+ years in product design / industrial design / mechanical design (consumer hardware preferred)
- Strong portfolio showing real shipped products (not just renders)
- Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino, or similar)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials (CNC, sheet metal, injection molding, 3D printing, anodizing, powder coat, etc.)
- Comfortable owning projects end-to-end and working cross-functionally
- Strong attention to detail: tolerances, fitment, assembly, durability, finish
- Able to move fast while keeping quality high
Nice to Have
- Software engineering experience (including vibe coding)
- Experience designing for creators, cameras, AV, or mobile streaming workflows
- Experience with soft goods (bags, straps, padding, textiles)
- Packaging design and unboxing experience
- Understanding of electronics/mechanical integration (heatsinks, airflow, EMI, connectors)
- Figma experience for product UI or documentation
- Familiarity with prototyping workflows (Shapr3D, KeyShot, rapid renders)

- Pay: $79,885.40 - $96,206.07 per year
