Head of Tech | Profitable E-Com | AI-Native

Role

Head of Tech responsible for owning the full technical stack at a profitable e-commerce company. Convert AI-generated CEO prototypes into production-ready systems and build AI-driven automations to streamline business operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Own all technical systems and infrastructure; be the primary engineering owner with end-to-end accountability.
• Productionize CEO-built prototypes (POCs in Claude Code): design architecture, add error handling, ensure maintainability, and deploy.
• Build AI systems to automate business operations including customer service automation, inventory reconciliation, reporting and analytics, marketing execution, and pricing analysis.
• Implement robust requirements gathering, architecture/design, AI-directed implementation, review, refinement, and production deployment processes.
• Work in a small team, collaborate with CEO and fractional CTO, and make fast technical decisions.

Requirements

• Demonstrated, systematic AI development process (requirements gathering, architecture/design, AI-directed implementation, review/refinement, production deployment).
• Experience shipping e-commerce solutions and integrations (Shopify, Magento, BigCommerce or similar), including programmatic handling of orders, inventory, and customers.
• Comfortable working from prototypes with ambiguous or incomplete specs and defining what “production” means for each project.
• Hands-on, coding-first mentality; willing to write and ship code rather than only manage people.

What We’re Not Looking For

• Candidates whose AI experience is only Copilot/autocomplete or who need fully detailed specs before starting.
• Candidates that want to only manage people and not write code.
• Candidates without e-commerce background.

Compensation & Equity

• Contract (months 1–3): $75/hr.
• Full-time (month 4+): $150,000 base + up to 100% performance bonus + benefits.
• Real equity path for the right candidate; potential to become an equity partner in an internal AI automation venture.

Process

• Day 1: Apply with resume, AI workflow, and an e-commerce project.
• Day 2: Rapid response (yes/no).
• Day 3: Interview with CTO + CEO.
• Day 4+: Paid project starts. Fast hiring, no long interview loops.
