Job Description
Role
Lead CX/UX Designer for the UpToDate Expert AI mobile application. Lead and scale a mobile-first design practice, partner with product, clinical, research, and engineering teams, and help define the user experience for iOS, Android and mobile web.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive mobile-first CX/UX strategy and execution for native iOS/Android and mobile web.
- Produce rapid prototypes and proof-of-concepts (including vibe coding) to validate interaction patterns and concepts.
- Develop and maintain design system components and UX patterns for consistent cross-platform experiences.
- Ensure accessibility and WCAG compliance across mobile experiences.
- Act as a liaison between UX, product, clinical, and technology teams to uphold design standards.
- Work within agile teams, support requirements management, and contribute to complex project delivery.
- Make independent design decisions and mentor or guide other designers as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a Lead UX designer, ideally in an agile environment.
- Hands-on experience designing mobile web and native mobile applications (iOS and Android).
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Interaction Design, Product Design, HCI, Industrial Design, or related field.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to build trusted relationships across cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work with limited guidance and make independent decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of the healthcare ecosystem (payer and provider sectors) and prior agency experience preferred.
- Deep understanding of typography, color, layout, and motion design principles.
- Passion for emerging technologies, problem solving, and teaching/mentoring.
- Experience working in distributed, collaborative teams.
Technical Skills
- Rapid prototyping and vibe coding for proof-of-concepts.
- Experience with design systems and creating UX patterns.
- Knowledge and application of WCAG accessibility standards.
- Proficiency with Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Solid understanding of HTML5 and CSS3.

Location & Work Model
- Hybrid role aligned with Eastern/Central Time (ET/CT). Team gathers eight days per month at the nearest ET/CT local office within 50 miles.
Compensation
- Base salary range: $128,900 - $226,050 USD (eligible for bonus).
