Role
Atlassian is hiring a Lead Product Designer (Design Technologist) for Confluence to drive design initiatives across Confluence Mobile and Confluence AI. This senior individual contributor role focuses on building advanced interactive prototypes, partnering with mobile, web and AI teams, and advancing design technology and processes to deliver intelligent, mobile-first collaboration experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Design innovative, AI- and mobile-first collaboration experiences for Confluence.
- Build advanced interactive prototypes using Figma and modern JavaScript frameworks (especially React).
- Apply AI literacy to prototyping, leveraging generative AI, vibe coding, and AI-powered workflows to accelerate iteration.
- Collaborate with engineers to clarify technical requirements, resolve prototyping challenges, and ensure smooth handoff.
- Champion and evolve design system components, patterns, and best practices.
- Advocate for motion design, accessibility, and inclusive design principles; participate in technical and accessibility reviews.
- Mentor designers and peers on prototyping tools, technical considerations, and design technology adoption.
- Improve design technology processes, tools, and methodologies to increase velocity and product quality.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in design technology, prototyping, and front-end development.
- Expertise in React and modern JavaScript frameworks; strong experience with Figma.
- Ability to bridge design and engineering, especially during technology and process transitions.
- Strong communication skills and experience collaborating across disciplines.
- Interest or experience in AI/ML, motion, accessibility, and emerging UI frameworks such as SwiftUI is a plus.
- Track record of improving design processes and mentoring others.
Compensation
Base pay ranges for new hires in the United States (geographic zones):
- Zone A: $189,000 - $246,750
- Zone B: $170,100 - $222,075
- Zone C: $157,500 - $205,625
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
