Role
As a Legal Engineer on the Practice Innovation team, you will design and develop client- and practice-facing legal solutions that enhance attorney productivity and client service through emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools. You will work closely with practice groups and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, analyze legal workflows, prototype solutions, run experiments, and support build-versus-buy decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Practice Innovation leadership and practice group stakeholders to design a portfolio of solutions aligned to practice needs.
- Conduct user research and workflow analysis to identify attorney and client pain points and high-value opportunities.
- Rapidly prototype legal solutions using AI-enabled tools, low-code platforms, and lightweight scripting; iterate based on feedback and findings.
- Run applied research and experimentation on emerging technologies to evaluate feasibility, impact, and risk.
- Analyze data and usage patterns to inform prioritization and business-case development.
- Collaborate with Practice Solutions, Knowledge Management, and AI Engineering teams as concepts mature toward implementation.
- Contribute frameworks, methodologies, and best practices for solution design, experimentation, and evaluation.
- Support stakeholder communications, investment recommendations, and adoption planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; JD or LLM preferred.
- Experience working with legal workflows, legal technology, or knowledge management systems is required.
- Comfortable with rapid prototyping and exploratory development approaches, including experimenting with AI tools, low-code platforms, and lightweight scripting (the posting explicitly references “vibe coding” style rapid iteration).
- Demonstrated collaboration with internal stakeholders across practice groups and business services.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, time management, and communication skills.
