Manager II, Technical Program Management - Platforms
Explicitly requires vibe coding and GenAI usage; uses AI coding assistants and agents to prototype and automate program work.
About the Role
Lead a portfolio of cross-functional platform programs as Manager II, Technical Program Management, driving modernization, reliability, and developer productivity across client and infrastructure platforms while using GenAI and AI-assisted tooling to accelerate program execution and decision-making.
Job Description
Role
Manager II, Technical Program Management on Pinterest’s Platforms team responsible for leading a portfolio of complex, cross-functional technical programs across Quality Engineering, Client Foundations, Ads, and Core Infrastructure. The role focuses on driving platform modernization, improving software quality and reliability, and accelerating developer productivity while leveraging GenAI as an operating model for program execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Use GenAI and AI-assisted tools as the default operating model for program management: produce AI-assisted drafts of program artifacts, modernize high-toil workflows into AI-first mechanisms (intake triage, status synthesis, action/decision extraction, risk & dependency tracking), and synthesize signals to surface risks and escalation paths.
- Prototype solutions to augment decisions through data (dashboards, data analysis) or simplified processes and internal tools using AI coding assistants (“vibe coding”).
- Follow AI risk, governance, and safety-by-design practices: handle sensitive data appropriately, validate AI outputs, document assumptions/limits, and ensure compliance before broad adoption.
- Lead cross-functional technical programs across domains (Quality Engineering, Client Foundations, Ads, Core Infrastructure) and manage dependencies, risks, roadmaps, and multi-quarter goals.
- Build and run integrated operating cadences: roadmap planning, milestones, decision forums, status updates, and escalation paths.
- Drive programs that improve code coverage, bug and incident SLAs, release quality, reliability, and developer productivity.
- Lead TPM efforts for client foundations modernization across iOS, Android, and Web to improve testability, maintainability, developer workflows, and release practices.
- Drive foundational programs across Ads and Core Infrastructure (modernization, reliability, platform simplification, ingestion/catalog unification, media pipelines, search/discovery infrastructure).
- Manage and develop a small TPM team while remaining hands-on on strategic or high-risk programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience leading large, cross-team technical programs in ambiguous environments with complex technical and organizational dependencies.
- Demonstrated AI-first execution mindset: using GenAI to accelerate planning, operations, and stakeholder communications while applying judgment to validate and refine outputs.
- Workflow design and AI fluency: experience turning repeatable program work into durable, low-toil mechanisms and creating lightweight scripts/tools, dashboards, data analyses, and leveraging agents where appropriate (“vibe coding”).
- Safety-by-design AI experience: operating within AI governance expectations (risk assessment, data handling, model/output validation, auditability/traceability) and identifying when AI requires controls.
- Strong execution discipline: risk management, governance, dependency tracking, and driving accountability across multiple teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including communicating tradeoffs and aligning senior technical leaders.
- Technical fluency across platform and infrastructure domains: distributed systems, APIs, reliability/observability, developer tooling, client platforms, or data/infrastructure systems.
- People leadership experience: coaching, setting direction, and growing team capability.
Logistics
- This position is remote-first (#LI-REMOTE / #LI-JD3) and can be situated anywhere in the country; requires in-person collaboration 1-2 times every 6 months.
- This role is not eligible for relocation assistance.
