Role
As a Member of Technical Staff on Vibe Labs, you will build and improve AI systems that support scientific discovery. You will develop autonomous and semi-autonomous tools that generate molecular designs, propose hypotheses, interact with experimental data, and improve via experimental feedback. You will collaborate with scientists, engineers, and experimental teams to prototype and iterate on agent-based discovery pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, autonomous AI systems that integrate molecular design with experimental feedback loops.
- Build and test research prototypes to explore new agent capabilities and orchestration patterns.
- Translate high-level scientific goals into executable software pipelines that autonomously navigate design spaces.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop verification workflows where AI assists scientists in refining and validating designs and hypotheses.
- Document findings, share learnings internally, and contribute to technical reports, open-source efforts, or publications when appropriate.
Requirements
- Strong foundation in modern machine learning methods (deep learning, generative models, foundation models); experience training, fine-tuning, or evaluating ML systems through research or industry work.
- Hands-on experience building agent systems and familiarity with common design patterns and agent evaluation frameworks.
- Experience deploying full-stack AI services and conducting rapid, iterative exploration using modern AI-assisted development practices.
- Exposure to molecular modeling, protein design, small molecules, or computational biology is a plus; strong ML candidates motivated to learn biology are encouraged.
- Experience working with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) and/or serverless databases and distributed computing frameworks.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a scientific or quantitative field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering) or equivalent experience.
