Role
Ostrom is hiring a Mid-level Backend Engineer to join a cross-functional tech team focused on building a scalable platform for the renewable energy sector. You will design and implement backend systems, take part in tech-stack decisions, and work on both new business initiatives and operational-reduction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build backend solutions from scratch and participate in tech-stack decisions.
- Design and build APIs and integrations for new product lines such as smart meters, dynamic pricing, and EV charging.
- Develop a scalable platform to support growth while reducing operational burden.
- Write clean, testable code and implement unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Collaborate in a cross-functional team and contribute to operational improvements.
Requirements
- 3+ years of backend development experience.
- Strong experience with TypeScript.
- Confident designing and building APIs.
- Solid understanding of relational databases.
- Commitment to writing clean, testable code (unit, integration, and E2E testing).
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows (examples given: Docker, GitHub Actions).
- Comfortable with greenfield projects and building systems from the ground up.
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
Nice to have
- Experience with AWS services: ECS, RDS (Aurora), S3, CloudWatch, Lambda.
- Experience with React or React Native, or willingness to take on full-stack tasks.
