Operator Engineer - Full-Stack Professional Vibe Coder

Role

Runpoint is hiring an Operator Engineer — a full‑stack professional who ships production software by directing AI tools. You will work directly with clients to diagnose problems, design solutions, and deliver working internal tools and prototypes in days.

Key Responsibilities

• Build internal tools and prototypes for clients, shipping working software quickly.
• Spend substantial time with end users to observe workflows, surface pain points, and define what to build.
• Direct AI coding tools to implement solutions while owning architecture, requirements, and quality.
• Translate vague non‑technical requirements into concrete technical proposals and actionable work.
• Rapidly iterate and kill experiments that fail; learn fast and move on.
• Demo work and gather feedback in client calls.

Requirements

• Real software engineering experience with production applications (not tutorials).
• Strong technical foundation: system design, data structures, architectural tradeoffs.
• Depth in at least one area (frontend, backend, or infrastructure) and working knowledge across the stack.
• AI‑native workflow: you use AI tools daily to direct and review generated code and outputs.
• Client‑facing communication skills and comfort on video calls.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight.

Tools & Tech

• Frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind
• Backend: Python or Node.js
• Data & Integration: SQL, APIs
• Project management: Linear
• Primary development environment: AI coding tools / AI tools

Nice‑to‑Haves

• Business experience (running a business, P&L ownership, MBA)
• Consulting or agency experience with fast ramp‑up across domains
• Experience building internal tools that become team standards

Compensation & Logistics

• Starts as a contractor with potential conversion to full‑time based on mutual fit. Fully remote role.
• Listed pay range: $120,000 - $175,000 per year.
