Role
Mid-level Mechanical (Piping) Designer within SSOE’s Advanced Technology division responsible for mechanical system design for high-tech industrial and manufacturing facilities. The role emphasizes Revit modeling, BIM coordination, and producing construction documents for HVAC, piping, plumbing, exhaust, and related mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce technical project plans, specifications, drawings, and models aligned with project requirements.
- Create and maintain Revit models for mechanical systems and produce construction documents, equipment schedules, and system diagrams.
- Participate in BIM coordination and multi-discipline clash detection/resolution using Navisworks.
- Maintain BIM model quality by following BIM execution plans, company Revit standards, and modeling best practices.
- Lead design and detailing of industrial and domestic piping, plumbing, HVAC ducting, chillers, boilers, exhaust systems, motor control, process chemicals, fire protection, and other mechanical systems.
- Design HVAC systems to meet environmental control requirements (temperature, humidity, filtration, particulate control) and perform load calculations, airflow balancing, and equipment sizing with mechanical engineers.
- Collaborate with Engineers, Project Managers, and other discipline teams (Electrical, Structural, Architectural, Process/Chemical) to resolve design issues and meet package requirements.
Requirements
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field; BIM/Revit coursework or certifications are a plus.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Revit for mechanical modeling, documentation, and BIM coordination workflows.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience with BIM coordination tools such as Navisworks for clash detection and multi-discipline coordination.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is preferred; experience with PIPE-FLO or similar mechanical analysis tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with U.S. HVAC design standards and codes including ASHRAE, IMC, NFPA, and relevant local building codes.
- Knowledge or experience with HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, pump hydraulics, exhaust, process chemicals, wastewater discharge, or similar mechanical building systems.
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English; ability to coordinate with local and international teams.
- Flexibility to work evening hours to maintain communication with U.S. teams.
Work Schedule
- Morning: 08:00 AM to 12:00 PM IST
- Evening: 08:00 PM to 12:00 AM IST
- Candidate should be flexible to work evening hours for US coordination.
