Pre-Sales Senior Engineer

Role

Senior Pre-Sales Engineer responsible for building reusable, production-shaped mock backends, APIs and demo infrastructure to support technical sales and client validation. You will leverage LLMs and Generative AI to prototype rapidly and enable high-fidelity technical storytelling between Product Engineering and Go-to-Market.

Key Responsibilities

• Use LLMs (e.g., Claude, Gemini) and generative AI to rapidly scaffold and iterate proof-of-concept apps and mock services.
• Design, build and maintain reusable mock services in Node.js / TypeScript.
• Implement contract-first APIs (REST and/or GraphQL) and ensure clear API documentation.
• Manage demo deployments and environments on AWS (API Gateway, Containers) with persistence in PostgreSQL or DynamoDB.
• Manage demo environments with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and apply existing OIDC authentication patterns.
• Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, Product and Design to ensure end-to-end demo flows and UI integration.
• Partner with Pre-Sales consultants to translate client win themes into working technical artefacts and occasionally demo to clients.
• Mentor and set informal engineering standards for the pre-sales team; evangelise GenAI workflows internally.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in Node.js and TypeScript.
• Experience with React for frontend collaboration.
• Practical experience designing REST and/or GraphQL APIs and working with Git/GitHub workflows.
• Familiarity with AWS primitives and deploying demo infrastructure (API Gateway, containers).
• Experience with PostgreSQL or DynamoDB for persistence.
• Experience using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
• Practical knowledge of OIDC-based authentication flows.
• Deep experience leveraging LLMs and Generative AI for prototyping and accelerating development.
• Comfortable operating autonomously and translating vague client requirements into working systems.

What this role is NOT

• This is not a pure presentation-led role; coding and prototyping are regular duties.
• This role does not involve shipping or maintaining production SLOs.

• Portfolio of internal tools, sales demos or high-fidelity PoCs built with AI-first workflows.
• Experience or insight into the energy sector.
• Design thinking and UX/UI collaboration experience.

Location & Working Pattern

• Based in London or Bristol (UK). Right to work in the UK is required; the company is not able to sponsor visas for this role.
• Hybrid working with an expectation of ~3 days per week in the office.
