Principal PM Manager

Role

As Principal PM Manager you will lead the Copilot Data and Metrics Platform product management team responsible for building the foundational data infrastructure that powers Microsoft 365 Copilot experiences. The platform ingests, curates, and serves compliant, privacy-preserving datasets at scale to support evaluation, analytics, feedback loops, metric authoring, dashboards, and fast time-to-insight across Copilot teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of PMs and partner with engineering, data science, and internal Copilot teams to deliver a platform that reduces time to ship and time to insight.
• Manage partner engagement and intake: gather evolving data and metric needs, translate to platform requirements, and drive intake and prioritization.
• Drive cross-functional and cross-organization strategy discussions and execution across engineering and product teams to align on roadmap, dependencies, and milestones.
• Anticipate and influence data model and schema evolution to support extensibility and partner scenarios.
• Own end-to-end data lifecycle: metric definition, data requirements, dataset curation, consumption tracking, data quality, discoverability, and compliance.
• Lead dataset onboarding and ensure schema consistency across datasets.
• Identify and drive platform investments to reduce data latency and improve agility for experimentation, evaluation, and product iteration.
• Establish and enforce schema governance and consistency practices.

Requirements

Required

• Bachelor’s Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development, OR equivalent experience.
• 1+ year of people management experience.
• 8+ years of product management experience in data platforms or infrastructure.
• Technical fluency in data modeling and experience with big data systems, data platforms, metrics platforms, or experimentation systems.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional execution across engineering and partner teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Analytical mindset with experience driving latency/agility improvements.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s Degree AND 12+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development, OR equivalent experience.
• 3+ years people management experience.
• 4+ years taking a product, feature, or experience to market (design, product-market fit, launch, internal tool/framework).
• 6+ years improving product metrics (growing usage, reducing churn) and disrupting markets.
• Fluency with AI tools, including vibe coding and building agents.

Compensation

• Typical U.S. base pay range: USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year.
• San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area base pay range: USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
