Role
Principal Product Designer on the Platform UX Team responsible for planning, building, maintaining, and scaling an enterprise design system that supports 50+ services, 50+ designers, and 200+ engineers. The role focuses on design system architecture, Figma-to-code parity, accessibility, documentation, and driving adoption across cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Modernize and scale the design system: design components, UI patterns, and a data visualization library for platform feature work.
- Use GenAI and other tools/plugins to automate processes and increase efficiency; work with engineering to build integrations and leverage MCP (Model Context Protocol).
- Ensure Figma code parity by defining component architecture (variants, props, slots) and maintaining tokens for multi-theme support.
- Lead design system documentation in Figma, Storybook, and other necessary tools.
- Evangelize the design system across the company to drive communication, adoption, and advocacy.
- Make data-informed design decisions using customer feedback and usability testing; contribute to feature UX work when needed.
- Define scalable governance models and reduce developer handoff friction through alignment between design and production code.
Requirements
- 6+ years of product design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating deep design principles.
- Experience building 2–3 design systems from scratch for mid-size to enterprise organizations.
- Expertise across the full design cycle: research, scoping, wireframing, prototyping, and user testing.
- Experience with design system documentation, component architecture, design tokens, and collaboration with engineering to ensure design-to-code alignment.
Compensation
- Posted base salary range: $137,500 - $222,375 per year. Final offer depends on qualifications, experience, and work location; compensation may include restricted stock units and a bonus.
Location & Work Model
- Location: Santa Clara, California, United States. The company states most teams work from the office full time with flexibility when needed.
