Uses vibe coding for demos and prototypes to communicate AI designs; heavy focus on GenAI/LLM tooling and hands-on prototyping.

About the Role

Lead cross-functional AI and security initiatives as a Principal Technical Program Manager, driving programs from 0-to-1 prototypes to platform-scale integration while ensuring technical rigor, responsible AI, and production readiness. Use technical depth and hands-on coding/prototyping to align stakeholders, define APIs/data contracts, and deliver scalable AI-native security products.

Job Description

Role

The Principal Technical Program Manager, Security & AI will lead foundational and applied AI research programs and orchestrate complex, cross-functional initiatives that take AI-native security ideas from prototype to production and platform adoption. The role combines technical program leadership, hands-on prototyping, model-literacy, and a focus on responsible AI and security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end delivery of AI-native security products from incubation (0→1) to platform scale (1→N).
  • Align stakeholders across engineering, research, and product teams to deliver cohesive customer value.
  • Participate in technical design reviews, read and prototype code, and help define APIs and data contracts.
  • Be model-literate: evaluate when to use LLMs, classical ML, or hybrid approaches and measure model quality, latency, reliability, and cost.
  • Coordinate cross-discipline teams to deliver responsible, high-quality AI features and set tracking metrics.
  • Ensure privacy, security, and responsible AI guardrails are integrated from day one; coordinate safety reviews, compliance, and incident readiness.
  • Engage with enterprise customers and field teams to co-design solutions, gather feedback, and iterate using telemetry.
  • Mentor teammates and foster a builder culture focused on velocity and quality.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements (including Microsoft Cloud background check).

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to pass Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects and 3+ years technical program management experience in software, cloud, or AI/ML systems.
  • Hands-on coding ability in one or more languages (Python, C#, C++, JavaScript/TypeScript).
  • 2+ years working with Machine Learning/AI systems (LLMs, GenAI, RAG, model serving, experimentation platforms, data pipelines).
  • Experience shipping cloud services or platforms at scale (multi-tenant, high-throughput) with measurable customer impact.
  • Security domain expertise (threat detection/response, SIEM/SOAR, identity, endpoint, cloud security) and familiarity with analyst workflows.
  • Experience with GenAI/LLM techniques and tooling (prompt engineering, retrieval/vector stores, agents/tool use, content safety/guardrails, evaluation frameworks).
  • Demonstrated success driving zero-to-one initiatives from ambiguity to MVP to GA and platform adoption.

Compensation

  • Typical U.S. base pay range for this role: USD 139,900 - 274,800 per year.
  • San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metro base pay range for this role: USD 188,000 - 304,200 per year.
