Propel is hiring a Marketplace Design Lead to own and elevate the end-to-end Marketplace product experience, setting strategy and executing high-quality, accessible designs that drive engagement and revenue. The role partners with Product, Engineering, Data, Brand, and Business leaders while mentoring designers and scaling Marketplace across new verticals.

Role
The Marketplace Design Lead will own the end-to-end Marketplace user experience—from discovery and strategy through detailed execution—setting a clear design strategy and long-term vision while remaining a hands-on player/coach. This role partners with Product, Engineering, Data, Brand, and Business stakeholders to build a personalized, trustworthy Marketplace that drives measurable outcomes across engagement and revenue.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and ship high-quality, accessible product experiences for Marketplace.
- Define and drive Marketplace design strategy and vision; align cross-functional partners on short- and long-term goals.
- Create a personalized, opinionated discovery and browsing experience that helps users find the right offers quickly.
- Design for trust, clarity, and decision-making under real-world constraints.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data to define goals, prioritize roadmaps, run experiments, and iterate based on performance and user insights.
- Scale Marketplace into new verticals and Propel-branded products while maintaining a coherent experience.
- Raise craft and quality through design direction, critique, and hands-on contributions.
- Help shape and grow the Marketplace design team, including identifying skill gaps and supporting hiring.
Requirements
- 10+ years of product design experience with ownership of complex product areas from strategy through launch.
- Strong track record designing consumer discovery and browsing experiences (marketplaces, commerce, travel, media, content-heavy products).
- Proven ability to set a clear product/design vision and translate it into shippable work in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
- Excellent judgment balancing user needs, business goals, and long-term trust.
- High craft bar in interaction design, visual polish, and attention to detail.
- Strong cross-functional leadership and stakeholder alignment skills.
- Clear, compelling communication and storytelling skills.
- High ownership and autonomy.
