Role
Join the Windows Design Systems team as a Product Designer II to evolve the Windows design language for AI-integrated experiences. You will work on component and pattern libraries, collaborate with Microsoft AI, M365, Fluent Design Systems, and Windows feature teams, and contribute to scalable, accessible, and craft-driven design systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, evolve, and maintain component and pattern libraries (controls, color, typography, iconography, motion, illustration) aligned with Windows brand guidelines.
- Participate in design reviews and office hours to gather and provide feedback and to align on visual language, usability, feasibility, and shared design decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, UX engineers, and software engineers to deliver shared libraries and systems.
- Perform design QA with UXE/Engineering to ensure design quality and fidelity.
- Contribute visual designs and storytelling opportunities for systems-wide solutions and product experiences.
- Advocate for and apply inclusive design and accessibility principles for global audiences.
- Engage with feature teams to translate product requirements into scalable, user-centered design solutions.
- Proactively learn and apply new design tools, AI-enhanced workflows, rapid prototyping techniques, and experimentation practices (including vibe-coding).
Requirements
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, UX/UI Design, Product Design, HCI, Interaction Design, or related field AND 3+ years of experience in product or service design, OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years experience with current design tools (examples given: Figma, vibe-coding, prototyping).
- 1+ years experience creating or managing design systems and toolkits.
- Ability to meet Microsoft and customer/government security screening requirements (Microsoft Cloud background check required upon hire/transfer and every two years).
Preferred
- Master’s degree in a related field AND 3+ years experience, OR Bachelor’s AND 5+ years experience, OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years experience shipping products, services, or games or delivering results through an end-to-end design process.
Compensation
- Typical U.S. base pay range listed: USD 100,600 - 199,000 per year. A different base range applies for San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area: USD 131,400 - 215,400 per year.
