Product Designer, Instagram Private Sharing

Role

The Product Designer will shape the future of Instagram Private Sharing by designing lightweight, personal friend-sharing experiences (e.g., Notes, Map, Instants) and incubating new 0-1 products. This role requires end-to-end interaction and visual design at scale, close cross-functional collaboration, and influence over strategic product direction.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate broad conceptual ideas into useful, valuable experiences for Instagram’s large user base.
• Design end-to-end flows and leading-edge concepts using appropriate prototyping tools.
• Drive design prioritization and execution to maintain momentum on accelerated timelines.
• Design new experiences or layouts and improve visual systems (typography, color, layout, iconography).
• Communicate strategic decisions and represent product direction across teams and to executives.
• Act as a cross-functional lead accountable for initiative success, including workstream-level operations when needed.
• Give and solicit feedback to raise design quality and take on mentorship and coaching responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or related field and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
• 8+ years building and shipping applications or software at company scale, leading end-to-end experiences in ambiguous, large-scale domains.
• Interaction design experience: defining and evangelizing how experiences should behave based on user needs and scalability considerations.
• Visual design expertise in typography, desktop/mobile UI, color, layout, and iconography, with strong attention to craft and detail.
• Strategic product thinking: developing product goals, identifying global opportunities, and making impact-driven decisions.
• Experience presenting work to executives clearly and succinctly.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership outside of product responsibilities that strengthened team effectiveness.
• Experience collaborating with industry-leading initiatives across the company and influencing long-term product vision and phased strategy.
• Experience using vibe coding and using AI tools extensively.

Compensation

• Base salary range: $201,000/year to $278,000/year. Additional compensation may include bonus, equity, and benefits.
