Role
Join the Windows Experiences design team to create holistic customer experiences and help evolve Windows in the age of AI. The Product Designer will own end-to-end design execution for moderately complex product areas, from problem definition through high-fidelity design, prototyping, and delivery, collaborating closely with product management and engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end design execution for moderately complex product areas, from problem definition through high-fidelity design, prototyping, and delivery with minimal oversight.
- Partner with Product Management and Engineering to shape feasible, coherent solutions aligned with product strategy.
- Leverage frontier AI tools (e.g., AI-assisted research synthesis, ideation, prototyping, content generation) to improve speed, quality, and impact of design outcomes.
- Translate qualitative and quantitative research into actionable design improvements and iterate based on user feedback and product metrics.
- Create and test low- to high-fidelity prototypes to validate concepts, de-risk decisions, and communicate intent to stakeholders.
- Craft design narratives that articulate the what, why, and how, linking design decisions to user needs and business outcomes.
- Solicit and incorporate feedback from peers, managers, and cross-functional partners; contribute positively to team culture and critiques.
Requirements
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, HCI, UX, Interaction Design, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems.
- Ability to work independently on well-scoped problems and collaborate when needed.
- Ability to meet Microsoft and customer security screening requirements.
Preferred
- Portfolio demonstrating strong design fundamentals, well-crafted UI, clear layouts, systems thinking, and ability to explain decisions and tradeoffs.
- Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools, including Figma, and experience using prototyping or “vibe-coding” tools.
- Hands-on exposure to frontier AI tools to augment design workflows (research synthesis, ideation, prototyping, content, accessibility checks, experimentation).
- Solid foundation in interaction design and UX principles, including usability, accessibility, and inclusive design.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills and the ability to present work clearly and receive feedback constructively.
Compensation
- Typical base pay range across the U.S.: USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year.
- Base pay range for San Francisco Bay area and New York City metro: USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
