Job Description
Role
S&P Global (Kensho) is hiring a Product Designer to lead the user experience for Spark Assist, an internal GenAI productivity tool used across the company. This is a strategic, hands-on role that combines product design, user research, prototyping (including code/vibe-coding), and design system stewardship for AI-driven, finance-focused workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design strategy and execution for Spark Assist across web (and where relevant, mobile) from concept through high-fidelity production.
- Partner with Heads of Product and Engineering to shape roadmap priorities and product direction.
- Plan and run user research with internal analysts and researchers: discovery interviews, concept testing, and usability studies.
- Define interaction patterns for GenAI interfaces: streaming/loading states, confidence indicators, error handling, feedback loops, and progressive disclosure.
- Prototype quickly using code or vibe-coding to validate hypotheses and build interactive proofs of intent.
- Scope, brief, and review work across design and development; set and maintain quality standards and coherence.
- Contribute to and evolve the design system to keep Spark Assist consistent and appropriate for financial users.
- Champion transparency, explainability, responsible AI practices, and accessibility.
Requirements
- 4–7 years of product design experience, with at least part of that time inside financial services, a fintech, or a finance-adjacent startup.
- Portfolio demonstrating strategic range: problem framing, shaping product direction, and shipping at pace.
- Demonstrated experience designing for AI or data-dense products; familiarity with LLM-based interfaces (chat, agents) and related UX challenges.
- Hands-on research skills and experience running research studies.
- Coding or vibe-coding fluency (comfortable with HTML/CSS and prototyping tools) to build interactive prototypes and collaborate with engineering.
- Expert in Figma and modern design system practice.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work with senior leadership and across teams.
- Comfort with ambiguity, rapid iteration, and shipping v1 releases quickly.
Nice to Have
- Experience designing GenAI or productivity tools in finance.
- A thoughtful point of view on UX patterns for LLMs and agentic systems.
- Background in HCI, cognitive science, or related fields.
- Experience mentoring designers or managing external contractors.
- Strong domain knowledge of sell-side/buy-side workflows, market data, or research distribution.
Location
This role is based in the London office and partners closely with teams across Europe and South Asia. Expect a mix of in-office collaboration and asynchronous work across time zones.
Benefits
- Health & wellness coverage.
- Generous time off / flexible downtime.
- Continuous learning resources and career development.
- Competitive pay and retirement planning.
- Company-matched student loan contribution (continuing education program) and financial wellness programs.
- Family-friendly perks and benefits.
- Retail discounts and referral incentive awards.
