Explicitly rejects "vibe coding"; focuses on spec-driven agentic workflows and building agent infrastructure.
About the Role
Product Engineer owning features end-to-end at an AI-first logistics platform. You will design solutions, orchestrate agent-driven workflows, build and ship production-quality software, and evolve the agentic development harness and context infrastructure.
Job Description
Role
As a Product Engineer at Orbit you own a piece of product from idea to production: define the solution, build it, verify it, iterate on feedback and take responsibility for its success. The role combines deep software craftsmanship with product judgment and the ability to architect and run agent-driven workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Own features end-to-end: decide solutions, implement, ship to production, iterate on analytics and UX, and own success metrics.
- Work with spec-driven agentic development: research, plan, delegate to agents, verify outputs, and maintain quality gates.
- Evolve the agentic development harness: contribute to Skills, Context-Layer, Workflows, Evals, and Guardrails so the team can reuse tooling.
- Treat context as infrastructure: document specs, runbooks and project context so humans and agents can work without friction.
- Run multiple parallel tracks and manage parallelization, context and verification of outputs.
Requirements
- Real software-engineering experience: built and operated production products, ideally 0→1 experience.
- Strong fundamentals: type-safe, clean code, solid data models and long-lived architecture.
- Product-oriented: outcome-focused thinking, able to propose and defend product decisions.
- Agentic experience: familiarity using AI-coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) and thinking in workflows and context rather than single chats or prompts.
- Ability to design agent-friendly APIs, documentation, Evals or MCP-style tooling is a plus.
- Excellent written communication and async-first working style.
- High self-organisation, autonomy and drive to operate remotely.
- Location: EU (German language skills beneficial due to product/customer base).
Nice-to-have
- Logistics/spedition domain knowledge.
- Prior startup or founder experience.
- Experience building agent infrastructure, Evals or internal dev tooling.
- Familiarity with the listed stack (TypeScript, AWS, React).
Tech Stack (summary)
TypeScript-based full stack with serverless and AI layers; see detailed stack below.
What to expect / Benefits
- All-remote role with free choice of work location inside the EU and remote-first culture.
- Attractive base salary plus profit-sharing via the “Own Orbit” program.
- Company-paid mini-offsites (SpaceWalks) with accommodation, quarterly MissionDays (in Hamburg) and an annual SpaceCamp.
- Home-office equipment budget and monthly coworking / WeWork All Access budget.
- Wellpass membership (DE/AT) and best-in-class AI tooling provided.
- Low-meeting, async-first culture and high ownership with direct impact on product and customers.
Notes on how Orbit works
Orbit is AI-first and emphasizes “agentic” development: structured, spec-driven workflows where agents research, plan, execute and are verified against persistent context. This is explicitly distinct from informal “vibe coding” prompt-based workflows.
