Role
CometChat is hiring a Product Manager to own and grow its core product surfaces—chat, calls, moderation, and AI Agent (BYOA) capabilities. This is a growth-stage operator role focused on iterating an existing, revenue-generating product rather than building a 0-to-1 solution.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the roadmap across Chat, Calls, Moderation, and AI Agents (BYOA).
- Identify high-leverage feature opportunities and scope, ship, and iterate to drive product growth.
- Prioritize backlog items from customer requests, bugs, and ideas into a coherent shipping plan.
- Communicate to customers and internal stakeholders: release notes, feature updates, changelogs, and timeline expectations.
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering (web, mobile, calling), design, and GTM teams.
- Work directly with the leadership team on strategy and execution.
How we work: AI-native by default
- Use agentic AI tools across the product lifecycle for discovery, definition, design, build, launch, and measurement.
- Expected activities include synthesizing interviews, scraping competitive intel, drafting PRDs, prototyping with AI-assisted tools, writing technical specs, reviewing PRs, and generating analyses from data.
- The team provides access to AI tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code); PMs are expected to steer agents, validate outputs, and debug generated code.
Requirements (Must-haves)
- 2+ years as a Product Manager, preferably in B2B SaaS, dev tools, API products, or platform/infrastructure.
- Strong written communication (PRDs, customer emails, internal memos).
- Comfortable in technical conversations about APIs, SDKs, and architecture trade-offs.
- AI as your daily operating layer—regular, deliberate use of agentic tools in product work.
- Experience shipping or prototyping product work using AI tools (v0, Lovable, Cursor, Claude Artifacts, etc.).
- Ability to articulate where AI helps and where it doesn’t.
- Comfortable in a small team with end-to-end ownership.
- Mumbai-based and able to work from the Mumbai (Chembur) office.
Strongly Preferred
- Engineering background (CS/engineering degree or prior engineering experience).
Bonus
- Experience with chat, messaging, communications, or real-time products.
- Experience on developer-facing or platform/infrastructure products.
- Have shipped AI-powered features (not just used AI to build features).
- Familiarity with PLG motions, self-serve onboarding, and developer activation.
Good to Have
- Experience creating AI agent configuration files (e.g., CLAUDE.md, .cursorrules, AGENTS.md).
- Experience with chat/messaging SDKs or real-time APIs.
- Experience shipping a developer onboarding flow or docs site.
Work Location
- In our Mumbai (Chembur), India office. Role requires being Mumbai-based and able to work from the office.
