Role
Cursor is hiring a Regional Director, Forward Deployed Engineering (India) to lead and scale an FDE team that embeds with enterprise customers to build production-grade Cursor workflows. The role combines hands-on technical credibility, people management, and customer-facing delivery and will be based across Bengaluru, Mumbai, and New Delhi.
Key Responsibilities
Sell
- Own the full arc from technical discovery to executive close in partnership with Sales and Account teams.
- Lead architecture reviews, surface integration complexity and infrastructure constraints, and scope time-boxed engagements that de-risk delivery.
- Build and present proposals that translate ambiguous customer problems into concrete deliverables with clear ROI.
- Sell vision and plans to C-suite stakeholders and drive deal strategy on strategic accounts.
Deliver
- Serve as executive technical sponsor on highest-priority engagements and manage stakeholder relationships from individual contributors to C-suite.
- Ensure delivery quality across projects (scoping, milestone tracking, technical standards, handoffs to customer teams).
- Translate between business outcomes and technical implementation; identify product gaps and integration friction and relay actionable feedback to Product and Engineering.
- Manage active engagements, escalate complex builds, coach FDEs, and step in on high-stakes accounts.
- Build reusable playbooks to scale the FDE organization.
Manage People
- Lead, develop, and scale a team of 6–8 Forward Deployed Engineers working on strategic projects.
- Hire top-tier FDE talent, set expectations and technical performance standards, and define career growth paths.
- Coach FDEs on scoping under deal pressure, working with senior stakeholders, and maintaining long-term customer impact.
- Build and scale a partner FDE track (train and enable GSI and consulting partners while upholding quality).
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience leading technical teams that build and ship to production (Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or similar).
- Hands-on software development experience, including coding in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience building and owning AI-native workflows in production and debugging real-world model failures.
- Strong ability to diagnose complex enterprise engineering environments, identify high-leverage interventions, and scope meaningful engagements.
- Proven experience scaling IC-level technical teams and delivering repeatable, high-quality outcomes in the field.
