Job Description
Role
A Sales Engineer supporting InterSystems’ North American Financial Services group. The role is client-facing and focused on pre-sales technical engagement: recommending architectures, building and presenting proofs of concept (PoCs), delivering trainings, and supporting implementation and marketing activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Account Representatives, System Integrators, Project Managers, and internal teams to maintain long-term client relationships
- Recommend technical architectures, model design, development patterns, migration and upgrade strategies, and operational best practices
- Design, build, and present PoCs and prototypes to prospects and partners
- Deliver standard and customized on-site classroom training
- Support clients during beta programs and pre-launch activities
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and seminars
- Create proposals, solution overviews, and sales collateral to support pre-sale efforts
- Keep up-to-date with InterSystems products and industry developments and feed customer needs back to product management
Requirements
Technical Expertise
- 5+ years in Sales Engineering, Software Development, or related roles in the Financial Services domain
- Experience in object-oriented and enterprise application development (including “vibe coding”)
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases (SQL/NoSQL)
- Data engineering experience (Python, GenAI, RAG, MCP) and modern analytics architectures (data lakes, data fabric, data mesh)
- Familiarity with machine learning and generative AI use cases
- Web and integration technologies: HTML, JavaScript, Angular, XML, XSLT, JSON, SOAP, REST
- Cloud hardware services, containers, Kubernetes, and API management
- Familiarity with Windows, Unix/Linux, and macOS
Professional Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability; experience leading PoC/prototype/pilot projects
- Experience managing RFx processes and overseeing implementation teams
- Customer-focused with ability to mentor and transfer knowledge
- Collaborative: work closely with account managers, professional services, product management, and support
Education & Experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
- Proven experience in sales engineering or similar technical client-facing roles; Financial Services experience is a plus
- Relevant technical certifications advantageous
