Senior Blockchain Engineer

Role

Senior Blockchain Engineer responsible for researching, prototyping, and integrating blockchain technologies into the Fireblocks platform. The role acts as a technical bridge between on-chain protocol capabilities and internal wallet infrastructure, influencing product features and architectural decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and prototype blockchain features, including Layer 2 solutions, cross-chain bridges, and DeFi protocols.
• Design and implement secure, scalable blockchain solutions integrated with existing infrastructure.
• Provide structured feedback to blockchain foundations and represent company interests in protocol design and tooling.
• Advocate for wallet infrastructure improvements and collaborate with product, engineering, and security teams to define technical requirements.
• Establish partnerships with foundations, vendors, builders, and customers to address challenges and implement solutions.
• Mentor and guide engineers on blockchain technologies and implementations.
• Stay current with emerging blockchain technologies, protocols, and industry developments.

Requirements

• 6+ years of backend development experience in modern languages (Go, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript).
• Knowledge of consensus mechanisms, cryptographic primitives, and distributed systems.
• Understanding of microservices architecture and API design.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams and fast-paced environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Previous experience in the blockchain ecosystem.

Preferred Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on blockchain development experience.
• Experience building blockchain solutions for enterprise or institutional use cases.
• Understanding of security best practices for smart contracts and blockchain systems.
• Demonstrated ability to apply AI tools for programming and experience with vibe coding.
• Experience with institutional DeFi, staking protocols, or custody solutions.
• Familiarity with MPC, multi-signature wallets, or other advanced cryptographic techniques.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.

Location & Work Model

• Hybrid role based in New York City with three days per week in the NYC office.

Compensation (NYC estimate)

• Base salary range: $177,000 to $230,000 (base is one component of total compensation; some roles may include target bonus and equity).
