About the Role
KPMG’s Planning and Infrastructure Economics team seeks Senior Consultant / Manager–level Advanced Data Analysts to design and implement scalable spatial and economic data models, conduct advanced spatial and statistical analysis, and build spatial tools to inform infrastructure, transport and energy planning. The role combines GIS, Python/R/SQL analytics, demand forecasting and applied AI (including large language models and agentic approaches) to support policy, investment and planning decisions across infrastructure projects.

Role
KPMG Planning and Infrastructure Economics (PIE) is hiring Advanced Data Analysts / Modellers at Senior Consultant and Manager levels to support national infrastructure, transport, energy and social projects. The role focuses on spatial and economic data modelling, demand forecasting, spatial tool and application development, and applying AI techniques to streamline workflows and generate insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable spatial and economic data models for infrastructure and planning analysis.
- Conduct advanced spatial, statistical and economic analysis using GIS, Python, R and SQL.
- Develop demand forecasting models (transport, land use, energy, social infrastructure) to inform planning and investment decisions.
- Build and deploy spatial tools and applications (web apps, dashboards, APIs) to support evaluation and decision-making.
- Integrate datasets across land use, transport, energy systems, demographics and economics to enable scenario testing.
- Apply AI techniques, including large language models and agentic/agent-based approaches, to automate analysis and streamline workflows.
- Support infrastructure business cases by quantifying economic, social and spatial impacts.
- Communicate insights through maps, models, dashboards and written outputs for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams of planners, transport specialists, energy analysts and economists.
Requirements
- Proven experience with spatial data and GIS platforms (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS, PostGIS).
- Strong programming capability in Python and/or R and experience working with large, complex datasets.
- Experience developing demand forecasting or similar analytical models (transport demand, land use forecasting, energy demand forecasting).
- Familiarity or experience with LUTI models, transport demand models, energy system modelling, or comparable approaches is highly regarded.
- Experience developing spatial tools or applications using web technologies (e.g. JavaScript, APIs, Shiny or similar frameworks).
- Demonstrated experience applying AI or machine learning methods, ideally including large language models or agent-based/agentic workflows.
- Strong problem-solving, communication and visual storytelling skills; ability to present spatial and economic narratives.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Spatial Data Science, Geoinformatics, Engineering, Economics, Urban Planning, Computer Science or a related field.
