About the Role
Lead electrical design and coordination for complex semiconductor and advanced technology facilities, focusing on cleanroom environments and mission-critical infrastructure. Responsible for power distribution strategies, low/medium-voltage system design, load analysis, construction administration, code compliance, and mentoring junior engineers.
Job Description
Role
The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead electrical design and coordination for large-scale semiconductor and advanced technology facilities, including cleanrooms, fab support spaces, and mission-critical systems. The role covers conceptual planning through construction administration, technical risk management, and interdisciplinary coordination with architects, process, mechanical, structural, controls, and fire protection teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering design from concept through construction administration for semiconductor and advanced technology projects.
- Develop and review electrical load calculations, demand analyses, and power distribution strategies for high-reliability manufacturing environments.
- Design low-voltage and medium-voltage systems including switchgear, substations, transformers, switchboards, motor control centers, panelboards, and busway systems.
- Perform system studies for selectivity, equipment protection, arc flash mitigation, and overall electrical system reliability.
- Coordinate with architects, designers, and engineering disciplines to integrate electrical systems into facility designs.
- Lead technical discussions with clients, contractors, vendors, and equipment suppliers; support procurement and installation planning.
- Prepare, review, and seal engineering documents, calculations, drawings, specifications, and narratives.
- Participate in design reviews, QA/QC, vendor submittal reviews, RFIs, field observations, site walks, punch list resolution, and as-built turnover.
- Support change management and risk mitigation; document decisions and resolve issues in integrated design-build environments.
- Mentor and coach junior and mid-level electrical engineers; provide design reviews and technical guidance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (qualifies for licensure in the state of practice).
- Active Professional Engineering (PE) license with responsible charge and stamping authority.
- Demonstrated experience in electrical engineering for semiconductors, high-tech industrial facilities, cleanrooms, or mission-critical buildings.
- Proven experience designing low- and medium-voltage electrical systems for complex industrial or manufacturing facilities.
- Strong knowledge of power distribution equipment, electrical codes, system coordination, arc flash mitigation, and reliability-focused design.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit for electrical design, documentation, and BIM coordination.
- Experience supporting projects through planning, design development, and construction administration phases.
- Familiarity with NEC, IBC, IFC, and relevant NFPA standards governing electrical system design and installation.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills; experience interfacing with clients and contractors.
