Role
The Senior Manager, Technical Product Management is a senior product leader within Optum AI who defines and executes multi-year product strategy for AI-driven products in the U.S. healthcare and life-sciences domain. The role operates at the intersection of business, data science, and engineering, owning the full product lifecycle from definition through production, release, and end-of-life with a strong technical focus on AI/ML platforms and enterprise solution delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute multi-year product strategy, roadmaps, and portfolio priorities aligned to business objectives and OKRs.
- Translate commercialization strategy into actionable product plans to accelerate revenue and expand client footprint.
- Continuously evaluate market and competitive landscape to identify and prioritize AI opportunities.
- Lead product initiatives across multiple teams and dependent portfolios, coordinating dependencies for on-time delivery.
- Influence backlog prioritization and strategic investment decisions across the AI portfolio.
- Manage product budgets and ensure alignment between business goals, customer outcomes, and technology investments.
- Drive Agile product delivery using tools such as JIRA, Aha!, Rally, and GitHub, applying Lean Product Management frameworks.
- Lead Voice of Customer (VOC) programs and NPS-driven insight cycles to improve user experience, adoption, and value realization.
- Evaluate technical alternatives and guide product decisions with understanding of AI/ML architecture, cloud infrastructure (e.g., Azure / Optum Cloud), data pipelines, and system integration.
- Ensure products meet enterprise standards for security, privacy, responsible AI, and regulatory/AI governance.
- Communicate product vision and progress to senior and executive stakeholders; coach and mentor product managers and senior staff.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Overall experience of 14+ years with the most recent 8+ years in product management and senior-level portfolio leadership experience.
- Early career experience includes 3+ years in programmer/software roles.
- Extensive experience in technical product management, product strategy, and Agile product delivery.
- Experience mentoring teams and driving organizational product management best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and drive cross-portfolio decisions.
- Deep understanding of customer needs, business processes, software architecture, and technology ecosystems.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, stakeholder management, and executive communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience delivering AI/ML, Generative AI, or data-driven products at enterprise scale and taking AI products from POC through commercialization.
- Experience with cloud-native delivery on Azure / Optum Cloud, including data pipelines and platform integration.
- Experience or familiarity with Responsible AI, model governance, and AI governance/privacy/legal review processes.
- Experience in vibe coding desirable using tools such as Claude Code and Codex.
- Knowledge of Python, React, NodeJS, LLMs, and user experience tools such as Figma and Sketcher.
- Domain knowledge of U.S. healthcare, payer/provider, or life-sciences ecosystems.
