Role
The Senior Software Applications Developer reports to the Director of Integration and Process Innovation and is a hands-on lead for development, integration, and support of the college’s enterprise systems. The role focuses on building data integrations, digital forms, workflow automation, and AI applications that support Workday (Student, Finance, HCM), Banner, Salesforce, Snowflake, and other campus systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy AI solutions, LLMs, and agentic AI applications including chatbots and RAG-based implementations integrated with core platforms (Workday, Google, AD, Snowflake, NotebookLM, etc.).
- Drive innovation and automation using APIs, AI/ML, and rapid, AI-assisted prototyping (explicitly mentions vibe coding) while meeting enterprise security and code review standards.
- Lead integration services across Workday, Salesforce, Ellucian Banner, and Snowflake, and build API web services, Workday Studio integrations, SaaS connectors, and endpoint connectors.
- Build and manage SnapLogic and Alteryx pipelines to feed the Snowflake data repository; verify data integrity and implement cross-system data mapping and transformation.
- Maintain enterprise platforms and applications (Workday, Banner, SnapLogic, Salesforce, BPLogix, Heroku, Oracle, GIT, Tomcat, Oracle Linux) and develop digital forms and automated workflows.
- Independently manage full solution lifecycles: requirements, development, testing (including UAT), deployment, monitoring, and production support.
- Monitor production support tickets, participate in release tests (including semi-annual Workday releases), and provide on-demand data analysis and reporting.
- Maintain technical documentation in Google Drive and version control in GIT; follow data governance and IT change management practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in application development, data integration, and system support.
- At least one (1) year of hands-on experience developing AI customer applications with vibe coding, including RAG and Agentic AI.
- Eight (8) years experience with SOAP interfaces, XML, JSON, RESTful APIs, HTTP, HTML5, and API/SOA design principles.
- Five (5) years hands-on Workday integration and report development experience.
- Eight (8) years integration experience with third-party, cloud-based, or legacy file transfer mechanisms.
- Experience with a major Student Information System (Workday, Banner, or Salesforce) required.
- Preferred: 10+ years in higher education enterprise systems, Workday Studio expertise, Salesforce development, data analytics/ML, and Snowflake experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency with SQL, data queries, views, endpoint APIs, and web service technologies.
- Experience with ETL/pipeline tools (SnapLogic or Alteryx) and Heroku integrations.
- Strong skills in API web services, endpoint connectors, Tomcat web server configuration and deployment, and Snowflake domain understanding.
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, and ability to work independently across multiple initiatives.
- Effective communication, collaboration with functional users and leadership, customer-service orientation, and ticket resolution skills.
Work Environment & Location
- General office conditions with moderate noise exposure. Hybrid role with expected days in the Boston office; candidates must reside within reasonable commuting distance of the Boston campus. Some movement around campus required for troubleshooting.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $104,000.00 - $130,000.00 annually, commensurate with experience.
