Role
Senior Software Engineer on the Associate Digital Communication team within Walmart Global Technology EBS. The role focuses on full-stack development and technical architecture for an associate-facing digital signage communications platform; you will design and build scalable front-end experiences, backend services, and platform integrations while mentoring junior engineers and guiding architecture best practices across the APEX organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate product and design requirements into technical solutions, design documents, and implementation plans.
- Lead and participate in medium- to large-scale projects; ensure on-time delivery, hand-offs, and quality.
- Write and maintain code across front-end and back-end components; build RESTful APIs and event/message-driven services.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide cross-team technical guidance.
- Drive software and systems architecture best practices and mentor junior engineers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and project managers to align technical direction.
Requirements
Minimum
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field and 3+ years’ experience, or 5+ years’ experience in software engineering.
- 5+ years programming experience in Java/J2EE and related technologies.
- Front-end proficiency with React, JavaScript, CSS, and React Native.
- Experience building RESTful APIs and event/message-driven applications (e.g., Kafka).
- Skilled in SQL and NoSQL databases, including schema design and indexing.
- Solid understanding of authentication/authorization, API gateways, load balancers, HA, and microservices architecture.
- DevOps experience with public cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins).
- Experience with cloud technologies such as Azure and GCP, and container orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong object-oriented programming, design patterns, and data structures knowledge.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to mentor and influence product leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments effectively.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in a related area and additional experience.
- Knowledge of Generative AI and Agentic AI concepts and applications.
- Familiarity with vibe coding tools for enhanced developer productivity and collaborative coding experiences.
- Experience leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) via prompt engineering for code generation.
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices (WCAG 2.2 AA) and assistive technologies.
