About the Role
Join IKEA’s Observability Core Platform team in Bengaluru to design, build, and operate a large-scale, Kubernetes-based observability platform (metrics, logs, traces) using open-source Grafana stack and automation. The senior engineer will drive platform R&D, automation with IaC and CI/CD, and apply AI/ML tools to increase reliability and developer experience across 300+ product teams.

Role
Join the Observability Core Platform engineering team to design, build and operate IKEA’s next-generation, open-source-based Observability platform (metrics, logs, traces) across hybrid infrastructure (on-prem + cloud). The platform supports 300+ product teams, handles ~45 TB log/trace ingest per day and ~70M time series.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and evolve a Kubernetes-based Observability platform running in hybrid infrastructure (on-prem, GCP, Alicloud).
- Build fully automated platform workflows using Terraform, Argo CD, Helm and GitHub Actions integrated into CI/CD.
- Operate and improve Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Mimir and OpenTelemetry-based telemetry for critical services at large scale.
- Partner with platform and product teams as an SRE/Observability specialist to drive reliability, automation and developer experience.
- Research and adopt new features from the Observability community and continuously evolve the platform.
- Use AI/ML/LLM tools daily to accelerate design, debugging, coding and reviews.
Requirements
- 5+ years as a systems/software engineer.
- Strong experience in Python (or Go) and working on platform code and tooling.
- Hands-on experience implementing observability solutions and modern SRE practices.
- Deep experience with Kubernetes and running services in hybrid, multi-cloud environments (GCP and/or Alicloud).
- Practical experience with Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Mimir and OpenTelemetry.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD tooling: Terraform, Argo CD, Helm, GitHub Actions, Git, Jira.
- A platform engineering mindset focused on automation, scalability, reliability and great developer experience.
- Comfortable working in Agile teams and applying AI/ML-assisted development practices.
