Role
Databricks is hiring a Senior Solutions Architect to lead technical engagement for a Strategic Account in the Energy (Oil & Gas / Utilities) vertical. You will own technical strategy for a large global customer, lead a distributed field engineering team, and act as a trusted advisor to drive adoption of the Databricks Lakehouse platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead overall technical engagement and orchestration of global account execution alongside the Global Account Director.
- Manage and coach a globally distributed field engineering team and junior Solutions Architects on use case prioritisation and building technical champions.
- Design and advocate large-scale data analytics and Lakehouse architectures, integrating with the wider cloud ecosystem and third-party applications.
- Deliver complex proofs-of-concept, customer workshops, seminars, and customer-facing collateral.
- Influence stakeholders at all levels, including C-level executives, to establish long-term strategic vision and adoption.
- Coordinate cross-business-unit and cross-geography workstreams to ensure consistent, impactful delivery.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a technical customer-facing, pre-sales or solutions architect role supporting large, globally distributed customers.
- Experience in the Energy, Utilities, or Oil & Gas verticals preferred.
- Background in Data Science, Generative AI, Machine Learning, Data Warehousing or Data Engineering.
- Prior coding experience and explicit familiarity with vibe-coding in core languages such as Python, PySpark or SQL; willingness to learn Spark.
- Hands-on experience delivering complex proofs-of-concept on public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Ability to set strategic technical vision, influence senior stakeholders, and orchestrate cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites in the UK and to London offices (approx. 20–30% travel; quarterly international travel).
- Databricks certification is a plus.
