Senior Workday Extend Platform Consultant

Role

Senior Workday Extend Platform Consultant responsible for leading the design and delivery of solutions using Workday Extend and Developer Agent for EMEA customers. The role is hands-on and customer-facing, combining solution architecture, implementation, and thought leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Run discovery and design workshops to identify where Extend apps and embedded AI experiences add business value.
• Design architectures combining Extend apps, agents, orchestrations, and integrations.
• Build and iterate on solutions using Developer Agent, IDE plug-ins, and generative coding tools to accelerate development.
• Define and implement integrations and data flows using modern API patterns (REST, Graph APIs, SOAP via orchestrations when needed).
• Lead technical workstreams, review designs from consultants and partners, and promote best practices and reusable patterns.
• Mentor colleagues in Extend and AI-assisted development and feed implementation learnings back to product and engineering teams.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor on adoption of Extend, Developer Agent, and related AI capabilities, with a focus on safe and effective use.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

• UK citizenship and ability to obtain SC (National Security Vetting) UK government security clearance.
• Several years of enterprise software implementation, technical consulting, requirements gathering, and solution architecture experience (ideally on Workday or similar HCM/Financial platforms).
• Hands-on experience designing and building solutions on Workday Extend, or equivalent experience with an enterprise extension/PaaS platform.
• Strong domain understanding in at least one area such as HR, Payroll, Financials, or related back-office processes.

Other Qualifications

• Strong architectural design skills across data flows, integration patterns, and security models.
• Experience with agentic / AI-assisted development tools (examples listed include Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Cline, or other VS Code–compatible AI development environments).
• Comfortable with open, text-based configuration and documentation formats (e.g., Markdown).
• Excellent communication skills with ability to explain technical and AI/agent concepts to non-technical and technical audiences.
• Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams and drive work through to production.
• Experience integrating agents with external systems using MCP-style patterns.
• Prior involvement in early adopter programs for new AI or platform capabilities.
• Extensive knowledge of web service and integration technologies (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML) and modern auth standards (OAuth, JWT, SAML).
• Fluency in English; additional European languages advantageous.

Working Model and Location

• Part of EMEA Services; role requires UK citizenship and the ability to gain UK security clearance.
• Flexible working approach: teams spend at least half (50%) of their time each quarter in the office or in the field with customers, with remote “home office” arrangements possible.
