Builds AI agents with LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG and function calling—directly aligned with vibe coding and AI-driven tooling.
About the Role
Forward Deployed Software Engineer focused on applied AI, building integrations, AI agents, and knowledge graph solutions that connect DevRev with customers' tech stacks. The role combines hands‑on development in TypeScript/JavaScript/Python, applied LLM work (prompt engineering, RAG, function calling), and customer-facing implementation and deployment.
Job Description
Role
Forward Deployed Software Engineer (Applied AI) responsible for designing, building, and deploying AI agents, integrations, and knowledge-graph solutions that connect DevRev to customers’ existing systems. The role is customer-facing and requires both hands-on engineering and technical collaboration across product, engineering, and customer teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with customers (~30% customer-facing) to gather requirements, run demos, and deliver deployed solutions.
- Hands-on coding and integration (70–80%): develop applications, integrations, and automations on the DevRev platform.
- Build and maintain the Knowledge Graph and integrate DevRev with SaaS and non-SaaS systems via APIs, webhooks, and real-time communication architectures.
- Design, develop, and launch AI agents; apply prompt engineering, fine-tune semantic search, and leverage generative AI techniques to improve agent performance.
- Write SQL, perform data analysis, and build dashboards to surface actionable insights for customers.
- Prototype rapid proofs-of-concept, run live technical demos, and iterate on solutions based on feedback.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with engineering, product, customer success, support, and revenue teams to ensure alignment.
- Guide customers through technical adoption, repository integrations, and advanced configurations.
- Be travel-ready (willingness to travel up to 30% for on-site implementations and workshops).
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in software development, systems integration, or platform engineering.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong coding proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and Python; familiarity with data structures and algorithms. (Nice to have: Go.)
- Applied AI knowledge: experience with large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), function calling, and building evals to validate agentic AI solutions.
- Integration expertise: large-scale data synchronization, REST/GraphQL APIs, webhooks, and event-driven/pub-sub architectures.
- Cloud and deployment experience with serverless/edge platforms (e.g., AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions) and modern DevOps practices (CI/CD, containers, observability).
- Data transformation skills: data mapping, schema alignment, data modeling, and graph data structures.
- Observability: logging, error surfacing, and telemetry for debugging and issue resolution.
- Familiarity with Model Context Programming (MCP) or similar approaches for context-aware integrations.
- Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Hiring Process / Notes
- Shortlisted candidates will undergo Background Verification (BGV); offers are contingent on successful completion.
Removed / Not Included
- Company fundraising, broad marketing/mission statements, and equal opportunity boilerplate have been omitted for brevity.
