Software Engineer

Role

GitKraken is hiring an AI Product Engineer to design and ship frontend features that make AI interactions feel simple, trustworthy, and useful for developers. This is a 0-to-1 environment where you’ll rapidly adopt LLMs and agentic frameworks to build an AI coding partner that reduces developer toil.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and ship frontend experiences that integrate large language models (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) and agentic frameworks.
• Translate vague product needs into clear technical plans and unblock progress by asking the right questions early.
• Own the frontend code: write clean, high-performance TypeScript and React focused on readability and maintainability.
• Collaborate with backend teams to define and design APIs that power agentic workflows.
• Participate heavily in technical design, code reviews, and manual testing to ensure high-quality releases.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React for frontend development.
• Practical experience with prompt engineering and building/refining multi-step agentic workflows.
• Familiarity with LLM APIs and AI-assisted developer tools, including their failure modes.
• Solid CS fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and ensure AI solutions meet product and user goals.
• Commitment to staying current with generative AI technologies.

Bonus Points

• Experience building cross-platform desktop applications.
• Prior work on developer tools, IDE extensions, or productivity apps.
• Open-source contributions or a strong personal project portfolio.

Location

This is a hybrid position based in Scottsdale, AZ. Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Phoenix area and will combine remote work with in-person collaboration.
