Uses AI-assisted tools for coding, debugging, and testing and mentions MCP/AI-integrated full-stack services.
About the Role
As a Software Engineer II you will design, build, and operate secure, event-driven full-stack services and platform infrastructure in TypeScript on AWS. You will own services in production—implementing infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability, and automated testing—while using AI tools to accelerate development and debugging.
Job Description
Role
You will be a hands-on platform engineer responsible for designing and building secure, scalable full-stack services and platform components. The team focuses on event-driven microservices in TypeScript on AWS and treats infrastructure as code with high rigor. Engineers are expected to ship, support, and continuously improve services they own in production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build secure, scalable services using AWS serverless technologies (Lambda, SQS, API Gateway) with event-driven patterns and strong observability.
- Own services in production: implement monitoring and alerting, respond to incidents, and maintain operational health.
- Build infrastructure as code (AWS CDK, Terraform) and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ship frequently and safely.
- Design and maintain well-constructed RESTful APIs with clear contracts and sane versioning.
- Write tests (unit, integration, end-to-end) as part of development.
- Participate in architecture discussions and produce documentation and design rationale.
- Use AI-assisted tools for coding, debugging, testing, and research while validating outputs yourself.
Requirements
- 2–3 years of professional software engineering experience in an agile, full-stack-focused environment.
- Solid full-stack fundamentals: request lifecycles, data persistence, error handling, readable code.
- Comfortable with Node.js/TypeScript and SQL.
- Real REST API design experience.
- Testing mindset with experience across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Cloud awareness (AWS preferred) and experience with managed services and scalability concerns.
- CI/CD fundamentals and frequent production shipping experience.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code concepts; hands-on experience with Terraform or AWS CDK is a bonus.
- Comfortable using AI tools to accelerate development and able to critically evaluate their output.
- Strong ownership mindset from code through deployment to operational stability.
Nice-to-have
- Hands-on experience with AWS serverless services (Lambda, S3, SQS, DynamoDB).
- Practical experience with Terraform, AWS CDK, or similar IaC tools.
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures and platform patterns (event buses, pub/sub, EventBridge).
- Experience with identity/entitlement systems (OAuth 2.0, SCIM, OIDC).
- Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol) or other AI-integrated full-stack patterns.
- Prior work on multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
