Software Engineer

Role

Mercor is seeking experienced Software Engineers (freelance/contract) to produce high-quality training data for AI models focused on client-side web development. Contributors will apply frontend engineering expertise to create prompts, applications, games, and verifiable evaluation rubrics that improve model behavior on real-world web tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Write realistic, self-contained prompts for client-side web apps, games, tools, and simulations
• Create precise, binary (pass/fail) rubrics tagged by verification type
• Ensure all rubric items are verifiable via screenshot and code inspection
• Produce artifacts that capture state management, interactivity, UI correctness, and robustness

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in frontend/full-stack development or technical content creation
• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Bachelor’s minimum; advanced degree preferred)
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and React (or vanilla JS)
• Comfortable writing precise technical specifications and evaluation criteria
• Attention to detail and ability to produce verifiable, reproducible evaluation items

Project Timeline

• Start Date: Immediate
• Duration: 1–2 months
• Commitment: Part-time (15–25 hours/week) with flexibility up to 40 hours/week
