Role
Software Engineer (MES I) responsible for developing and maintaining software for First Solar’s manufacturing, reliability, and R&D processes, configuring higher-level packages, integrating shop-floor systems, and providing expert-level global support for manufacturing applications and data architectures.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and modify software systems for manufacturing, reliability, and R&D processes.
- Integrate shop-floor systems with custom and off-the-shelf solutions.
- Provide hyper-care and tier-three support for global manufacturing and database systems.
- Assist server, network, and DB administrators in troubleshooting enterprise-level issues.
- Document recurring issues and propose solutions; interface with internal teams and suppliers.
- Produce software builds, configure target environments, and perform integration testing.
- Support release and deployment activities and provide early life support to initial users.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Associate’s degree, or equivalent experience as specified by First Solar (multiple experience/education equivalencies listed).
- 2+ years on software development teams using Microsoft .NET technologies.
- 2+ years developing in C#.
- 2+ years writing SQL queries (SQL Server preferred).
- Proven experience with software development lifecycle, Agile teams, change management, and version control.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Experience designing data structures and working with SQL Server databases.
- Required technologies include .NET/C#, Entity Framework, MS SQL/PostgreSQL, Azure DevOps/Git/GitHub, RabbitMQ/MSMQ, and React.
- Vibe Coding / Agentic Coding (required).
Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills
- Service Fabric, SSIS, Angular/AngularJS, Kubernetes, Docker.
- Apache Airflow, Grafana, Prometheus for observability.
- PLC integration, Ignition (SCADA/MES), Azure Cloud Services.
- Python, Power BI reporting, PowerShell, Windows Scheduler jobs.
- Experience interfacing with manufacturing control systems, PLCs, or OPC data transfer.
- AI/ML concepts and Digital Transformation / Industry 4.0 exposure.
