About the Role
Join IKEA's Observability Core Platform team in Bengaluru to build and operate a Kubernetes-based, hybrid-cloud observability platform (Grafana stack) that supports product and infrastructure teams across the company. Role
As a Software Engineer on the Observability Platform team you will help turn IKEA’s Observability Core into a highly automated, self-service platform for product and infrastructure teams. You will work with senior engineers, SREs and product teams to build, operate and improve platform capabilities and use AI tools as part of day-to-day development and debugging.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and evolve a Kubernetes-based observability platform running in hybrid infrastructure (on-prem + GCP/Alicloud).
- Implement and maintain automated platform workflows using Terraform, Argo CD, Helm and GitHub Actions as part of CI/CD pipelines.
- Operate and improve Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Mimir and OpenTelemetry-based observability for dashboards, alerts, SLOs, traces and logs at scale.
- Collaborate with platform and product teams to add and refine features that improve observability and developer experience.
- Research and evaluate new observability capabilities and community developments with guidance.
- Act as an observability partner to product teams to improve reliability, automation and developer experience, increasingly leveraging AI tools.
Requirements
- Around 2–4 years of experience as a systems/software engineer or equivalent practical experience.
- Solid programming skills in Python or Go and interest in platform tooling and automation.
- Experience with containerized applications and Kubernetes and exposure to at least one major cloud (GCP, Azure or Alicloud).
- Hands-on experience or strong interest in Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Mimir, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry or similar observability tools.
- Experience or interest in Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD workflows (Terraform, Argo CD, Helm, GitHub Actions).
- Platform engineering mindset and enjoyment of building shared tools and services.
- Interest in using AI/ML/LLM tools and “vibe coding” to accelerate learning, building and debugging.
- Comfortable working in Agile teams using Jira, Git and CI/CD.
Work environment & location
- Role is based in Bengaluru (Bangalore), India. Candidates must be located in the mentioned location; IKEA does not provide relocation support for this recruitment.
- The team expects you to spend the majority of time in the office to collaborate and co-create.
- The platform supports ~300 product teams, 1,000+ users, ~45 TB log/trace ingest per day and ~70M time series across global data centers and clouds.
