Role
Front-Line Software Engineering Manager for Mission Systems, Autonomy, and Artificial Intelligence (MSA2I) within Boeing Phantom Works. Lead multi-skill agile software teams focused on advanced R&D, prototyping, and program execution supporting Boeing Defense, Space & Security.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, develop, and motivate a software team of approximately 15–20 engineers.
- Oversee day-to-day execution of software development activities and ensure on-time delivery.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors to build integrated solutions.
- Acquire resources, drive process improvements, and act as the staffing focal for the Phantom Works Software organization.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
- Define product roadmaps and identify new market opportunities.
- Support recruiting and visibility across the Phantom Works organization.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 7+ years of software development experience.
- 3+ years in a software management or team lead role.
- 2+ years managing software development teams and delivering projects on time.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in engineering, computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, or related field.
- Experience with C++ and Python.
- Experience with DevOps tools and practices and with cloud platforms.
- Experience with LLMs and vibe coding.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, team-building, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
Compensation & Benefits
- Summary pay range: $160,650 - $217,350 (pay based on experience and qualifications).
