CometChat is hiring a Solution Engineer to act as a technical bridge between customers and product/engineering teams, designing and validating integrations for chat, voice, video, and AI Agent capabilities. The role is customer-facing and hands-on, supporting pre-sales and post-sales, troubleshooting real-time systems, and creating reference architectures for web, mobile, and backend platforms.

Role
CometChat seeks a Solution Engineer to serve as a technical bridge between customers and internal product and engineering teams. The role focuses on understanding customer requirements, designing scalable solutions using CometChat’s platform (SDKs, APIs, UI Kits, and AI Agent capabilities), and ensuring successful integrations across web, mobile, and backend systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a hands-on, customer-facing technical lead for CometChat’s Chat, Voice, Video, and AI Agent platforms.
- Support Sales and Customer Success during pre-sales and post-sales to design and validate customer solutions.
- Understand customer use cases, architecture, and constraints; recommend best-practice integration approaches.
- Design end-to-end solution architectures using CometChat SDKs, APIs, UI Kits, and AI Agent features.
- Support integrations across Web, Android, iOS, React Native, Flutter, and backend platforms.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to real-time messaging, WebSockets, push notifications, calling, and agent workflows.
- Review customer implementations and recommend improvements for performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, sample applications, and reference architectures.
- Relay customer feedback to Product and Engineering to influence roadmap decisions.
- Support enterprise needs such as on-prem deployments, compliance, and high-concurrency environments.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers where required.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with APIs, SDKs, and distributed or real-time systems.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, WebSockets, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience integrating third-party SDKs into web or mobile applications.
- Working knowledge of JavaScript and at least one backend language such as Node.js, Java, or PHP.
- Familiarity with web and mobile development concepts.
- Understanding of authentication, authorization, and security best practices.
- Strong debugging skills across client-side, backend, and network layers.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to customers.
- Exposure to AI agents, chatbots, or LLM-based systems.
- Prior experience in a Solution Engineer, Sales Engineer, or Technical Consultant role.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and high ownership.
Good to have
- Experience with real-time communication platforms (chat, voice, video).
- Familiarity with WebRTC and push notification systems (FCM, APNS).
- Experience with enterprise/B2B SaaS customers.
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
Location
This role is based in CometChat’s Mumbai (Chembur), India office and is an on-site, full-time position.
