About the Role
The Solutions Engineer will support F5's sales organization by providing technical expertise, solution designs, demonstrations, and proof-of-concepts to help sell F5 products and services. The role partners with Account Managers to meet sales targets, advises customers on technical and business challenges, and requires strong pre-sales, presentation, and solution-design skills.

Role
The Solutions Engineer (SE) is a technical, customer-facing pre-sales role within the sales organization. The SE partners with Account Managers to articulate F5’s product strategy and value proposition, design and demonstrate solutions, and validate technical fit to customer business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Articulate F5 product strategy, messaging, and positioning against customer business objectives.
- Provide technical expertise through sales presentations, solution designs, demonstrations, and proofs of concept (in-person or virtual).
- Drive the sales process in partnership with the Account Manager, providing technical validation, support, and sponsorship.
- Work collaboratively with internal technical and sales teams and share best practices.
Requirements
- BS/BA or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a technical, customer-facing role (Solutions Engineer or similar).
- Strong presentation, communication, and account management (pre-sales) skills.
- Experience or knowledge of F5 solutions or relevant competitor offerings preferred.
- Fluent verbal and written skills in German and English are highly valued.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in solution design for large-scale environments.
- Experience with data center, virtualization, and secure cloud computing environments.
- Experience with container orchestration (e.g., OpenShift, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and SCM tools is a plus.
- Advanced experience in one or more of: web application and API security, denial-of-service threats, authentication and authorization, automated threats and bots.
- Familiarity with LLMs, AI/ML concepts, prompt engineering, and model behavior/bias/limitations.
- Knowledge of using AI tools (chatbots, agents) for search, analysis, generation, automation and potential “vibe coding” workflows.
Location & Travel
- This role is primarily based in Germany out of a home office.
- Travel across districts in the country is required to cover customers and territories.
