Sr. Product Designer

Role

Microsoft AI is hiring a Senior Product Designer for the Content team to help define and craft generative AI-driven media and content experiences across Windows, Edge, and the Copilot app. The role focuses on product strategy, interaction and visual design, design system contribution, prototyping, and mentoring within a cross-functional team.

Key Responsibilities

• Design high-quality visual and interaction experiences grounded in user behavior and needs.
• Create AI-powered product features that transform how users discover and engage with media and content.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and content strategists to define, iterate, and ship features.
• Communicate design rationale clearly through presentations, flows, prototypes, and storytelling.
• Use and contribute to the design system; propose new patterns and partner with engineers to implement designs.
• Mentor other designers and foster a culture of creativity and innovation.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, HCI, UX, Interaction Design, or related field AND 4+ years of product/service design experience
• OR Bachelor’s degree in the same fields AND 5+ years of product/service design experience
• OR equivalent experience demonstrating product or service design capability

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in product or service design, ideally for consumer-facing products
• Strong visual design and interaction design skills grounded in UX fundamentals
• Experience designing AI-powered or content/media experiences
• Familiarity with generative AI and vibe coding is a plus
• Experience with accessibility and inclusive design
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills; ability to advocate for design decisions
• Experience designing and prototyping in Figma

Location & Work Model

• Hybrid position: 4x per week in-office. Office locations include Redmond, WA; Mountain View, CA; and New York City.

Compensation

• Typical U.S. base pay range for this role: USD 119,800 - 234,700 per year.
• Different ranges apply for specific locations; San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metro range: USD 158,400 - 258,000 per year.
